What are some ideas for a low cost, simple, and intuitive GUI?

I am currently working on a very simple (a few lines of code, but hopefully not too many) GUI for an embedded device. It is to be about as accessible as a game. I would prefer it to run on a Linux distro (like Ubuntu or Puppy Linux), but I can do some pretty simple things myself.
The main points of the interface (and I think I can accomplish all of this with keypresses) are:

show a bunch of menu choices and sub-menus
perform some action when a selection is made.

This has to be very low-cost, so even if I don’t use an external GUI library I would like to think about the UI/UX issues. I would like to learn from experience, not just hear what is out there. I have a lot of experience with programming, just not with GUI design.

A GUI (Graphical User Interface) allows for the programmer to create a simple graphical interface to his program. A programmer without graphic programming skills might not want to do it.
What you want is to create a programming language that a person can use that does not require graphic knowledge, but has the ability to use it. In your case, this is not something that is commonly used, however.
Turtle graphics (graphics for a 2D computer game, first player-controlled) is a common way to write some simple games without needing to know what all is going on and what is going on. For example, to write a “Tic-tac-toe” game, you need just to make a basic for, multiple menu options, and “Y” as a character to replace “O”.

ASP.NET MVC redirect not working

Why does this not work:
public ActionResult About()
return new RedirectResult(“”);

This is because new RedirectResult() is resolving to the default overload of Redirect() (which is static and does not take an HttpContext), which I suspect is the version you are using, which just ends up calling this:
public class RedirectResult : HttpRedirectResult
public RedirectResult(string url)
: base(url)

protected override void ExecuteResult(ControllerContext context)

Which isn’t returning a new HttpContext, and hence doesn’t work in a view engine.

What is the value of the movie?

Somewhat of a long shot, but I’m trying to make sense of this video.
The first thing I want to say is that it’s not my video. I was trying to figure out what it was, so I uploaded it to a different video site, but I can’t seem to find it.

The beginning of the video shows a few 2D characters walking around a mostly empty warehouse. It then goes into a CG environment. The characters are very over the top and I’m having a hard time making it all fit.
Near the end of the video, there are some people removing boxes from a high cube storage
